Untitled

Little child sleeping soundly,
Unaware of hoof beats pounding.
Tucked in bed, safe and sound,
Soldier’s boots trample the ground.
Curled up in a little ball,
Soldiers fighting, dead they fall.
The child shall sleep, safe all night
Unaware of the dying man’s fright.
Sleeping child warm in bed,
Men around are falling dead.
Child, child, you mustn’t know
Dead men frozen in the snow.
Innocent child unaware,
Dead men hold a chilling stare.
Sleepy child shall arise with the sun,
Earth and soldier shall soon be one.
Oblivious child, sweet ignorant bliss
The soldier dies for you to have this.
